An exemplary village for the country located in Anuradhapura!
March 18th, 2024It is imperative for the human resource to be consisted of development attitudes for a country to be developed. It basically requires self-discipline, understanding others and co-operation. The primary organizational structure in which such a group of people lives can be called as a village.
The development that is built through the village adds great strength to the progress of a country. We met a village where such a group of exemplary people live in Moravakkakand area, Nochchiyagama of Anuradhapura.
The people living in the village are working to fulfill all the daily needs in the village and in their group by the community organization established as “United Welfare and Funeral Aid Society” in a very formal and successful manner. Accordingly, many welfare programs centered on the village are carried out in various ways such as elderly welfare, welfare for childbirth and children’s education, blood donation, self-employment programs, clinical programs, film screenings and entertainment programs.
Also, this community organization is taking actions to implement many programs such as starting a bodybuilding center, establishing an arts center, etc. in future.
Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs who visited the village said that it is a pleasure to see a village where such special programs are being implemented and that the Morawakakanda village is an exemplary village to other villages in the island
