Inauguration ceremony of the State Vesak Festival in Matale…

The inauguration of the State Vesak Festival was held today (21) at the Dharmaraja Piriwen Viharaya in Matale under the precedence of Hon Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister with the blessings of Maha Sangha.

The State Vesak festival of this year is being held in Matale district with the objective of providing necessary facilities for the learning activities of Dhamma school children and Piriven Theros and for the development activities of temples with less facilities. The assistance for this was given under the precedence of Hon. Prime Minister.

Also, the commemorative stamp on the occasion of 2024 State Vesak festival was issued with the precedence of Hon. Shanta Bandara, State Minister of Media, Mr. Rajitha K. Ranasinghe, Deputy Postmaster General for Operations , Mr. Chamisha De Silva, Deputy Postmaster General of Central Province, Mr. Anura Rathnayake, Divisional Post Superintendent of Matale.

Also, after the inauguration ceremony of the State Vesak festival, the archeology exhibition chamber was opened simultaneous to it with the precedence of the Prime Minister.

The State Vesak festival program has been organized by the Samastha Lanka Shasanarakshaka Mandalaya, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Department of Buddhist Affairs, District Secretariat of Matale

Maha Sangha of three sects including Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Nayaka Thero, Anunayaka of the Malwathu Maha Vihara party of Shyamopali Maha Nikaya, Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadassi Nayaka Thero of the Asgiri Party of Shyamopali Maha Nikaya, Ven. Ederamulle Amaramoli Thissa Nayaka Thero of the Amarapura Ariyawansha Saddhamma Yuththika party, Ven. Matale Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero, Anunayaka of Sri Lanka Ramagngna Maha Nikaya, Priests of other religions, Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Lalith U. Gamage, Governor of the Central Province, Hon. Shantha Bandara, State Minister, Hon. Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda, Member of Parliament, Hon. Yadamini Gunawardena, Member of Parliament, Hon. Gunathilaka Rajapaksha, Member of Parliament, Hon.
