Overview

At a time when only the Department of Buddhist Affairs was conducting Buddhist activities in the country as a state institution, a ministry was established for the first time on 16th June 1988 as the Ministry of Buddhasasana and all the Buddhist affairs were assigned to it. The amendments have been made to the name of the ministry as simultaneous subjects to religions were added to the scope of this ministry with widening the scope of it.
