Providing dates donated by Saudi to mosques in this country has been started !
March 11th, 2024Dates donated to Sri Lanka by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were symbolically handed over to the mosques in Sri Lanka under the precedence of Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Buddhasasana today (11).
Dates have been officially given to three mosques in Colombo district today.
As there are 2500 registered mosques in this country, the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs has made arrangements to provide twenty kilos of dates for each mosque.
Dates have been given for several districts till now and actions are being taken to give dates to other districts on today and tomorrow. Mr. Z.A.M. Faisal, Director of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and a group of departmental officials participated in this event.
