Formal arrangements for the convenience of the devotees who come to the annual feast of the church of Our Lady in Matara…
July 18th, 2023The annual feast of the church of Our Lady in Matara is scheduled to be held on September (10) this year. Therefore, Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and Mrs. Chathuri Pinto, Director of Christian Affairs visited the church to examine its activities.
In the initial meeting, Father Charles Hewawasam, Anunayaka of the Catholic Diocese of the Southern Province, discussed with Father Michael Colin, Curator of the church of Our Lady in Matara and fathers and Priestesses about the ways to organize including providing infrastructure facilities for the pilgrims coming to the festival.
The discussion was very successfully held with the participation of District Secretary of Matara, Divisional Secretary of Matara and many officials from the fields of health, security, transport, water, electricity, government and non-government institutions. All the institutions agreed to give full contribution to the feast and the minister thanked them.
