Steps for celebrating the National Milad-Dun-Nabi celebration in Mannar this year

Arrangements are made to hold the National Milad-Dun-Nabi celebration this year at Silavathurai Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, Musali Divisional Secretariat in Mannar District. A discussion on the further activities of the festival was held today (08) at the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

Milad-Dun-Nabi is celebrated on 28th September. The discussion in regard of holding the related national festival was held under the precedence of Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and Hon. Kader Masthan, State Minister of Rural Economy.

Arrangements are made to hold the ceremony under the precedence of His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Hon. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. It was discussed here in regard of infrastructure and other facilities for the convenience of devotees participating in this.

The week of the festival is named as the Milad week. A number of programs are to be implemented such as issuing a commemorative stamp, conducting a blood donation program and a tree planting program, providing concessionary bags for the poor, providing uniforms for school children, sports competitions and cultural art events.

Mr. Somarathna Widanapathirana, Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the directors of religious departments and government officials and a group of government officials from Mannar and Northern Province also joined this discussion through the online system.
