Nawa Rathri Pooja Begins…

On the first day of Nawa Rathri Pooja, the religious rituals and Pooja were conducted for Mother Durga at the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs today (15).

The first three days of Nawa Rathri Pooja are dedicated to Mother Durga and the second three days are dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Also, the last three days are reserved for Goddess Saraswathi and Vishwa Matha Pooja is being performed on the tenth day of Vijaya Dashami. The offerings are conducted  for nine Durga goddesses, the nine forms of Mother Durga in these nine days.

Ven. L. Jenadeesha Kurukkal, Ramachandra Kurukkal Babu Sharma, Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Y. Aniruthanan, Director of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs, Mr. S. Leleyi Nadaraja, former director and officers of the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs participated in this event.
