National Milad-Dun-Nabi celebration magnificently in Silawathura of Mannar…

The National Milad-Dun-Nabi celebration was held at Silawathura Muslim Maha Vidyalaya in Musali Divisional Secretariat of Mannar District today (22) with the precedence of His Excellency President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Key speech at the National Milad-Dun-Nabi Celebration was made by Mawlavi Ashek b. Niamatullah. A commemorative stamp and first day cover were issued for the National Milad-Dun-Nabi celebration 2023 and Mr. Ruwan Satkumara, Postmaster General presented the first stamp and the first day cover to the President.

The prizes and certificates were presented to the students who won from the design competitions held in conjunction with Holy Prophet’s Birthday celebration by His Excellency President Ranil Wickramasinghe and Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

Honorary awards were also presented to the Mawlavis who served in mosques for a long time. A memorial gift was also presented for the late Prof. Hasbullah who had rendered exceptional service to the area.

The festival was organized under the precedence  of Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs. The Presidential Security Division, Presidential Media Division, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Police, Mannar District Secretariat, Silawathura Divisional Secretariat and many government institutions performed to make the event a success.

Religious leaders led by Ven. Maha Sangha, Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. K. Kader Masthan, State Minister of Rural Economy, Hon. P.S.M. Charles, Governor of Northern Province, Hon. K. Thileepan, Member of Parliament, Mr. Somarathna Vidanapathirana, Secretary to the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Mr. A.M. Faisal, Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs  and a group including ambassadors, security chiefs, school children, local residents and others attended to this event.
