A number of free trade agreements to strengthen trade and investment relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand were signed by Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister of Thailand who came to Sri Lanka for a two-day official visit

Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister of Thailand attended the 76th National Independence Day celebration today (04) as the chief guest.

The historical friendship based on Theravada Buddhist relations and cultural relations was also discussed at length during the official meeting held between two countries.

The understanding, free trade bilateral aviation service agreements were signed between the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Research and Training Institute and Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand as covering various areas such as commodity trade, investment, customs procedures and intellectual property rights and new foreign policy of Sri Lanka for expanding ties with Southeast Asia and establishing stronger economic integration in the region

Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Health, Hon. Douglas Devananda, Minister of Fisheries, Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Tharaka Balasuriya, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, Chief of Staff to the President of Sri Lanka and Presidential Senior Adviser on National Security, Mr. Saman Ekanayake, Secretary to the President, Mr. Anura Dissanayake, Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mrs. Aruni Wijewardane, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. B.G.R.W. Gamlath, Acting Director General of Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Research and Training Institute and others participated in this occasion.
