February 14th, 2024Another phase of the series of programs conducted by the National Drug Prevention Operation Unit with the objective of making the religious leadership to contribute for the drug prevention program was recently held for the scholars of Buddhist and Pali University in Pitipana, Homagama.
02. The purpose of these training programs is the implementation of empowering the community for a safe generation free from smoking and drug usage with contribution of the religious leadership. More than 200 participants including student monks participated in this program.
03.The main speech was delivered by Mr. N.R. Amarasinghe, Senior Psychology Consultant, Coordinating Officer of the National Drug Prevention Operation Unit.The importance of protecting the health of an individual’s life, the Buddha’s interpretation in regard of it, the effect of drug alcohol and cigarette usage on hygiene, the methods of creating a person free from drug usage, as well as the social value of a person free from drugs and smoke have been emphasized here.
